My husband and I saw a really good mystery movie tonight. It's both a "modern" mystery and a vintage classic. We saw the modern BBC remake, but there's an old B/W version, too.

I finished reading Maddie Day's NACHO AVERAGE MURDER today. I haven't written up a Goodreads review yet but I'll add it here once I do.

I finished reading two books for review purposes. They were Jennifer Greer's debut thriller A DESPERATE PLACE and Ellen Hart's IN A MIDNIGHT WOOD.

Will those reviews appear in Mystery Scene or some other publication? I received an advance copy of Sara Paretsky's short story collection, LOVE AND OTHER CRIMES. I've been in the mood for short stories so I want to dig into that one next.

I haven't gotten the edits back yet, but assuming they are accepted they would be in the next issue of Mystery Scene. They are the only publication I write for (not counting when I do my own personal reviews on my Goodreads page).

I am hoping to pick up that Sara Paretsky book soon. I am getting the new Kristen Lepionka book ONCE YOU GO THIS FAR on Friday.

I have a copy of MURDER AT THE TAFFY SHOP! I decided to get this one because I already read the other Cozy Capers Book Club Mystery. I'm not a speed reader and I don't have a hope of reading all the books in the other series. They do sound good so I'll probably get a couple of them.

You could always sample each of Edith's other series by getting the first book in the series and seeing how you like them to decide whether you want to continue on with them. (You will, they are great!)

But if I'm pushing one series over the rest, I'm thinking the first book in her Maddie Day written Country Store series FLIPPED FOR MURDER is the one you should start with.

Becke, I don't read all that fast anymore either. I used to read a lot during down time at work but since I'm so busy right now there, the only reading I do is on my lunch break.

And when I get home from work, I'm usually so beat that I don't want to read a lot because I'm so tired. I power through sometimes but I find I do a lot of my extended reading on the weekends right now.

My copy of MANY A TWIST came in the mail today and I now have the entire County Cork series with four books to read in order to finish the series.

Got my email notification that my copy of NACHO AVERAGE MURDER is on its way! Yippie for me!

I've got an extra day off this weekend because of the holiday so I'm hoping the book arrives before then so I can read it with the three days of rest.

Edith's "One Too Many" story in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine's last issue was really good. And so much darker than her other work.

Thanks, Jay. I do like to explore darker themes in my short stories!

Edith, and with "One Too Many",  you show that you do it so well!

I stopped at my local B&N today. They had the paperback edition of Sheila's KILLER IN THE CARRIAGE HOUSE so I picked it up.

And the County Cork mystery novel FATAL ROOTS showed up in the mail today.

I don't follow the Save Our Cozies page on Facebook. But I follow Edith's two fan pages (under her name and Maddie Day's name) as well as the Wicked Authors group page.
