If you count white-water rafting as a sport, you should try Beth Grounwater's Outdoor Adventure series. I read them awhile ago, Deadly Currents, Wicked Eddies and Fatal Descent.

I've read a couple of Nancy's books. I could use a book that gives me a laugh AND a mystery, so I'll pick up this one soon.

I have a collection of pretty bookmarks. I'm using one that has a daisy at the top and the whole bookmark is sprinkled with glitter. This is printed on it: There are always flowers for those who want to see them. - Henri Matisse

The mystery genre is very suited for those of us in isolation. Check out our Mystery Scene blog on April 4 for some ideas

I saw the blog before I logged into the message board. It was a bit funny to see you mention Ragnar Jonasson and include the cover shot of his upcoming novel THE MIST as it was one of the books I got as part of this new round of review ARCs for Mystery Scene.

My wish list doubled after reading the new issue of Mystery Scene. I've only read a few of the recommended books in this issue but there are a lot that sound good.

I finished Catherine Maiorisi's A MATTER OF BLOOD a couple days ago and just got around to doing up my review of it over on Goodreads. I really liked it overall. Here's what I wrote about the book (I hope it does it justice) - REVIEW LINK

I haven't read this but the title reminded me, I watched the first season of a British TV series called BLOOD. I have mixed feelings about it but will probably watch season two (so far there are only two seasons). Anybody else watch this?

Carla,

Yes, I just found out today that I'm going to be out of work for an extra four weeks as Massachusetts has extended their stay-at-home advisory and business closures order until May.

So it would appear that I'm going to have even more time to read than I thought.

I just always feel like I should be doing something constructive - or else I should be reading a mystery.
I'm dividing my time between reading, watching TV (embarrassed to admit this) and playing online. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Why would you be embarrassed to admit watching TV? Speaking as a TV Junkie, I watch a lot of TV to begin with. I don't see anything wrong with this.

I've read all of Tana French's books.  I especially liked The Witch Elm and Faithful Place. I've never been to Ireland but it would be fun to visit if I ever strike it rich.

I haven't read any of Tana French's books. Did you watch the Dublin Murder Squad series they made for the Starz channel? They are doing a free preview of the network on my cable system this week and I was thinking of checking it out.

I watched the first couple episodes but didn't like it enough to follow the whole season.

Welcome aboard Hannah.

And yes, with allergy season upon us it is going to be a hellacious time for all.

I'm washing my hands a lot but with the high pollen count, I'm having a hard time keeping my hands away from my eyes.  Not sneezing too much, at least.

Good luck fighting off your allergies!

Some great suggestions so far.

I also really enjoy:

Elvis Cole and Joe Pike (Robert Crais);
Myron Bolitar and Win Lockwood III (Harlan Coben);
Tony Hill and Carol Jordan (Val McDermid);
DI Zigic and DS Ferreira (Eva Dolan);
Harry Bosch and Renee Ballard (Michael Connelly - new pairing, fascinating dynamic), also Bosch and Mickey Haller when they collaborate in some books.

I've read a lot of Harlan Coben books and I like the Myron Bolitar books a lot. I've read the older Harry Bosch books but I'm having trouble keeping up with newer ones. I have some Val McDermid books but don't think I've ever read anything by Eve Dolan.

Have any of you read this book? I'm intrigued!

Kia ora (hi) Becke. I've read that book - one of my favourites of that year. I actually interviewed Stuart (one of his very first media interviews) at an eatery by the Thames River in London before the book came out. I think I reviewed the book for Mystery Scene when it came out in the USA later in the year. You can read my interview with Stu, who's an interesting guy, from a New Zealand newspaper here: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=12000558

Newbie jumping in here. Just read your awesome review - Quantum Leap meets Groundhog Day with a touch of Agatha Christie? I'm in! Do you know if they ever made a movie of this, or a TV show?

I read in bed a lot, too. I'd love to get an old-fashioned leather comfy reading chair one day.

My grandfather had a leather recliner that I loved to sit in when I was a kid. I don't know how it would work out for me today if I had one of those chairs. I'm so used to the spots I read in now.

I saw a chair that looked perfect for cozy reading - it was in Pottery Barn. It also cost around $1600, so unless I come into an unexpected fortune, it won't be coming to my house.

Louise Penny's books are favorites of mine, but Armand Gamache has more than one partner. The whole ensemble cast is marvelous so I'd put the whole cast of (regular) characters - the residents of Three Pines and Gamache's coworkers - at the top of my list.
