People are always giving me bookmarks as gifts and I use them. Love them. Always rotating among the various books. I CANNOT bend pages.
For our wedding, our favors were fancy bookmarks with a saying about books and pencils. They went over big. I still hear from friends that they still have the bookmarks and still use them.

In answer to the question about transgender authors. Yes there are some. Jenny Boylan is one who comes to mind. She wrote Long Black Veil.

This question always puzzles me, which is odd since I review mystery fiction and each year do a top 20 list for the Sun Sentinel and also contribute my favorites to Mystery Scene. So many good books and I thought 2019 was a terrific year for mysteries. I already have read a couple 2020 books that may be on my year end list.
For the 1990s I would say Michael Connelly's The Black Echo as that really got me into reviewing and Val McDermid's A Place of Execution, 1999...2 books that began and ended the 1990s

Kate, I will raise the ante on weird promotions sent to reviewers,
i have two to share.
An author whose character loved peanut butter cups sent candies along with her novel—not a pretty sight when that package sat on the loading dock for several days in the Florida heat.
The worst was a huge package—I remember the postage alone was more than $20—that included a small cardboard casket in which nestled the novel. It was beyond creepy.

Paris? Dallas? Paris? Dallas? I would choose Paris but that is just me.
I love Bouchercon and has only missed 2 in 24 years. I will be there and I believe there are plans to have such a display. If so, will try to take a photo

I wish I could vote on this but I never read children's mysteries. I went straight to Agatha Christie, Rex Stout and a variety of small hard covers that were published during the late 1930s and 1940s. I still have most of those.

Hope I am doing this right
I am Oline H Cogdill and I review mystery fiction, blog and write author profiles for Mystery Scene. I also review for Associated Press, Publishers Weekly and the Sun Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale.
So yeah, I read a lot.
And just for fun, I edit a magazine for Nova Southeastern University.
I love all mysteries and all subgenres. But my favorites are the hard boiled novels and those that take me to a different world. culture, etc.
My husband is a theater critic and theater is another passion as are dogs.
This should be fun
