It's Pride month, and contributor Oline Cogdill posted a great little piece on LGBTQ novels that includes John Copenhaver, George Baxt,  Robert W. Fieseler, Katherine V. Forrest, Ellen Hart, Greg Herren, Val McDermid, Michael Nava, Abigail Padgett, Neil Plakcy, Christopher Rice, John Morgan Wilson, and R.D. Zimmerman.

Mystery Scene Magazine Issues / Re: Summer 2019 - Lori Roy #160

Worth noting that Ben mentions the classic "Nightmare Alley" which we featured in Spring Issue #159 ("The Hypnotic Allure of Nightmare Alley" by Pat H. Broeske). After reading this, I also thought of Niall Howell's (https://newestpress.com/authors/niall-howell) April 2019 noir "Only Pretty Damned." It was reviewed by Matt Fowler for us at the MS site (https://www.mysteryscenemag.com/blog-article/6571-only-pretty-damned).

What I'm Reading / Re: My latest read is...

I'm just getting started on William Kent Krueger's "This Tender Land." (Out Sept. 2019) I've never actually read Krueger before, though I've only ever heard the very best things about both his standalones and his Cork O'Connor books. I'm just a few pages in, but the writing is quite beautiful. I can see already why people care so much for his work.

If you are already a fan, I'd be curious to hear from you about why you love Krueger's books. Please share!

Hello! My name is Teri Duerr and I'm a senior editor at Mystery Scene Magazine. I edit the book reviews section, put together the monthly enewsletter "At The Scene" (https://www.mysteryscenemag.com/component/content/article?id=5481&Itemid=113) and the always fun "Writers on Reading" essay series.

So happy to be a part of this forum, as one of the very best parts of my job at MS is getting to work with and speak with the mystery/crime/thriller community. Despite our community's penchant for spending a lot of time with crooks, sociopaths, and murderers, I could not imagine a kinder, funnier, more intelligent or interesting bunch of folks. Looking forward to hearing from you all here.
