Faith Finley is a respected psychiatrist and author with a bright future ahead of her. Then she is falsely accused of sexually abusing one of her patients and is forced to live under a cloud of suspicion, which also strains her relationship with her husband, Liam, a well-known restaurant critic. Things take an even worse turn when Liam disappears without a trace after a car accident. Faith is left with injuries from the accident and seemingly endless questions.

Has Liam been abducted and killed, or has the stress finally gotten to him and caused him to walk away? After several months, the police come to suspect the latter. But Faith doesn’t want to believe Liam would run out on her, so she does her own investigating. Then the threats start: sentences cut out from a copy of her book, such as “Lock your windows.”

As Faith struggles to sort through conflicting evidence and a passel of suspicious characters (such as Hilly, a neighbor whose bakery had received a poor review from Liam), the scene is set for a dramatic showdown with her deranged, unknown nemesis.

The many twists and turns in Someone’s Listening will keep readers hooked, eager to find out what’s really going on and who is behind it. The suspenseful novel delves deep into the heartache, distrust, and confusion that Faith experiences after Liam’s disappearance, making her character not only realistic, but sympathetic. There are plenty of red herrings and several suspects, each with their own motives and hidden secrets, which help to obscure the shocking truth until the final revelation.

Someone’s Listening succeeds as a mystery thriller, but it’s also about persevering despite hardships, and the will to survive, which Faith personifies in her quest for answers, making this both a moving and entertaining read.
