Fun column. Now I have two stories I have to read. (Stribling and Christie).

Let me throw out a few more suggestions for great mindbenders: The Possibility of Evil, by Shirley Jackson. Sinkhole, by Carol Cail. Come back, come back, by Donald Westlake. The Payoff, by Stanley Ellin.

Enjoy.

Great lists! Nice to see a shout out to "The Payoff" but I think almost every Ellin is a mind-blower (check out "Death on Chrismas Eve"). Two relatively recent mind-blowers: "Exit Line" by Reginald Hill and "Driven" by Brendan DuBois. Look forward to reading "Sinkhole".
